It's that time of year...
...when I get happy. I love Autumn. Always have. That's just me.
The crisp air, the changing foliage, Halloween, more local gigs, etc.
The best time of the year to listen to Tom Waits.
All is well in Infartoland.
More or less.
I've been gigging, on average, four nights a week. I've got a new (gay) cover band with both Rob (Sugar Brown) B. and James (Filthy Bastard) plus two other fellas who seem to be worthwhile individuals. Details soon.
I refuse to write about any and all recent "romantic entanglements," because that's just tacky. (Ask me in person, over shots, however, and I shall take great pride and pleasure in regaling you with tales of tawdry behavior and lewd goings-on.)
Also, I have money. Not much, mind you, but more than I've had in awhile. I'm actually paying my bills for a change, with enough left over to keep me in comic books and bourbon to my blackened, little heart's content.
Above and beyond all else, I'm going to see CLUTCH two nights in a row (Dec. 29th and 30th) at Starland Ballroom! This makes me indescribably happy. This year started out decent, became VERY rough, and has just recently begun to turn out to be pretty fucking good. What better way to celebrate the achievement of surviving yet another 365 days of cold, hard existence than flinging myself about, willy-nilly, in The Pit at two consecutive CLUTCH shows?
There is no better way.
Tomorrow is Lincoln Park Day, and I'm meeting up with a bunch of folks around noon at The Wexford to force many, many shots down my gullet, then heading across the road to watch Frankie Goes To Englewood (R.K's band). After their set, it's back to The Wex for more liquid sunshine. I haven't planned the remainder of my weekend past that, but I'm fairly certain it's going to involve all manner of irresponsible behavior.
That's just me.
For now, at this moment, it's "Mule Variations" (Waits), incense, Wild Turkey, and the comforting knowledge that things always tend in my favor...
