Rock & Roll McDonalds

So, I'm in the car at the McD's drive-thru this evening, and my band comes on the radio. The band is Quick Kill Formula, and we play METAL. We've been getting some air play as of late on WSOU 89.5 fm. Check out www.quickkillformula.com for details.

I don't know how many of you reading this have ever heard yourselves/your band on the radio before, but it's pretty fucking cool. I'm pumped, cranking the song on my shitty car stereo ('91 Topaz-represent!!!), when I pull up to the window.

The guy in the window is looking at me funny, since I'm rocking out in the car like a retard. I tell him, "This is my band!"

"Yeah?," he says, with mild disinterest.

"No, see, this isn't a CD or tape of my band. They're playing us on the radio!"

"Yeah?" (Complete disinterest.)

"Yeah, it's on 89.5. WSOU!"

"Uh huh." (Utter, total disinterest, tinged with a hint of annoyance.)

At that point, I figured I'd cut my losses, pay for my food, and get the fuck out of there. He just didn't care that I was on the radio. I guess its all a matter of perspective. One man's Big Deal is another man's Pain In The Ass.

He didn't strike me as much of a Metalhead, anyway. Now, if I were in G-Unit, perhaps...
